Sports Journalist Afia Empress Quits Angel Fm

In a heartfelt farewell, renowned sports journalist Joyce Annor Yeboah, popularly known as Afia Empress, has announced her departure from Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN) after half a decade.

Arguably, Afia Empress who joined the media conglomerate in 2020 is one of the most outstanding football commentators, writers and analysts on the African Continent. She is also the second most followed female sports journalist in Ghana.

She has incredibly covered lots of tournaments including the last African Cup of Nations which took place in Ivory Coast.

The news was shared via her official social media page, where she expressed her gratitude to the network’s founder, Dr. Oteng, and key figures Saddick Adam and Don Summer.

Afia Empress described her time at ABN as “an incredible journey,” thanking her colleagues in the sports department for their teamwork and support. “To my ABN sports family, your teamwork and support made my time here unforgettable,” she wrote.

The sports journalist also extended her appreciation to her fans, whose love and enthusiasm fueled her passion for her work. “To my amazing fans, your love and support fueled my passion – thank you for being part of my story!” she added.

Afia Empress’s departure from ABN marks the end of an era, but her legacy in sports journalism will undoubtedly continue to inspire fans and colleagues alike.

She was recently appointed deputy manager of Juventus Academy Ghana, SMAC SC and SMAC Sports Center.
