The Ghana Police Service (GPS), in collaboration with Togolese law enforcement and INTERPOL, has successfully extradited Adina Akpo Abdou Moudjibou — alias Mohammed Djandjo, a prime suspect behind a spate of high-profile armed robberies in Accra between 2022 and 2024.
In a significant cross-border security operation, the Ghana Police Service (GPS) has taken custody of notorious armed robbery suspect Adina Akpo Abdou Moudjibou, also known as Mohammed Djandjo.
The extradition followed his arrest by Togolese authorities on January 30, 2025, and was executed under the framework of the Agreement on Cooperation in Criminal Matters among West African Police Services.
The suspect, believed to be behind a string of well-orchestrated robberies targeting affluent communities such as East Legon, Cantonments, Ridge, Tesano, Airport Residential Area, and Adjiringano, was the subject of an INTERPOL red notice.
His criminal operations, captured in several CCTV footages and widely circulated on social media, had instilled fear in some of Accra’s most secure enclaves between 2022 and 2024.
During a media briefing, the Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor, provided insights into the case and recounted the steps leading to Moudjibou’s capture.
“The GPS has been pursuing this individual for some time. His involvement in multiple high-profile robbery incidents prompted an extensive intelligence-led manhunt,” she said.
“Our commitment to public safety led to enhanced security and surveillance in affected neighborhoods, coupled with strong international police cooperation.”
The formal handover took place on May 12, 2025, following a coordinated diplomatic and security process. A five-member delegation, led by DCOP Donkor, traveled to Lomé to finalize the extradition.
The Ghana Police Service assured the public of continued efforts to dismantle organized criminal networks operating within and beyond Ghana’s borders, reinforcing its stance on zero tolerance for violent crimes.
Investigations into Moudjibou’s operations are ongoing, and he is expected to be arraigned before court in the coming days.
