President John Dramani Mahama has taken swift action to address the pressing issue of feeding students in Senior High Schools across Ghana.
In a directive issued during the National Thanksgiving Service at the University for Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), the President instructed the Chief of Staff and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to evacuate food stored in warehouses at Tema to all Senior High Schools.
This move is aimed at mitigating the challenges faced by schools in feeding students, which arose from the GES’s decision to reopen schools on January 3rd, contrary to the advice of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools.
The President acknowledged the difficulties caused by this decision and has taken proactive steps to ensure that students receive the necessary support.
The food, which was imported by the previous government in response to the drought situation in Northern Ghana, will now be redirected to support the feeding program in Senior High Schools.
This decision demonstrates the President’s commitment to prioritizing the needs of students and ensuring that they have access to quality education and basic necessities.
In addition to addressing the immediate needs of students, President Mahama also highlighted the importance of education in his administration’s agenda.
