Planning Committee Chairperson for the 2025 Oguaa Fetu Afehye celebration, Charlotte Osei ESQ has envisaged this year’s festival to be a springboard which will sort to facilitate development for the citizenry of Cape Coast going forward.
Speaking at the 61st launch of the Oguaa Fetu Afehye dubbed: “Innovate to Elevate: Harnessing the Creative Economy for Sustainable Growth” on Thursday, Madam Charlotte Osei eulogized how the 60th celebration of the festival took the nation by storm by becoming a national festival with the presence of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll.
She elaborated that the 2025 Oguaa Fetu Afehye will transcend to become an international festival, as the occasion will seize to be more than just a celebration.
Madam Osei added that the festival will serve as a platform for international collaboration and economic empowerment.
The 2025 Oguaa Fetu Afehye Planning Committee Chairperson emphasized that the committee will be engaging global industry leaders, cultural influencers, and international creatives to amplify the Fetu Afahye’s reach and impact beyond the borders of Ghana.
Prof. Kobby Mensah, Guest Speaker for the launch and a Lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School, charged that the 61st Oguaa Fetu Afahye celebration shouldn’t be just another festival, but should be a call to action, a moment to rethink into the future and to take bold steps towards innovative-driven development.
The Professor with specialization in political marketing, communication, tourism marketing and the newly appointed CEO of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) further opined that the time for action is now and urged all and sundry to work together and make Cape Coast stronger, more innovative and more prosperous than ever before.
Paramount Chief of the Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta ll on his address, implored the citizenry of Cape Coast to come and put all hands on desk to see to the general success of the 2025 Oguaa Fetu Afahye, since the well-being and development of Cape Coast doesn’t lie on just a selected few, but every individual.
He again beseeched his people to let go of every harboured pains and ill-character capable to draw back the progress of Cape Coast like insults, the rampant invoking of curses, and uncleanliness which will sort to undermine the city’s plans of enhancing tourism.
The Oguaa Fetu Afehye which annually seize to draw tourists from across the globe as well as indigenes oversees to the City of Firsts, in its 61st celebration is slated to hold in the first week of September 2025, with eminent personalities from both far and near expected to grace the occasion.
