The National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to organize a demonstration against alleged state-sponsored police harassment.
The National Youth organiser, Salam Mustapha in a facebook post announced that The demo will take place on Tuesday, September 23rd, starting from Obra Spot at 6 am and marched to the Police Headquarters.
Salam Mustapha stated in a Facebook post “Tuesday 23rd September, the National Youth Wing will organize a demo against the state sponsored police harassment. From obra sport to police headquarters. 6am sharp!”

The decision to protest follows recent arrests of NPP members and supporters, which the party claims demonstrate discriminatory law enforcement practices.
The NPP youth wing alleges bias from the Ghana Police Service since the current administration took office. Notable cases cited include:
- Gordon Asare Bediako
- Chairman Wontumi
- Social media activists, including Sir Obama Pokuase and Fante Comedy and recently the arrest of Abronye DCE
The party claims these individuals were detained for criticizing the government rather than committing criminal offenses.
The Planned Demonstration
The NPP youth wing plans to deliver their message to the police leadership “in grand style.” The protest reflects growing tensions between the opposition party and law enforcement agencies. The Ghana Police Service has not yet responded to the allegations or the planned demonstration.
Citizens are advised to stay informed and exercise their right to peaceful protest as the demo approaches. The event is expected to draw significant attention to the ongoing debate about police impartiality and accountability in Ghana.
