Nkoranza Traditional Area To Get New NHIS Office

The Nkoranza Akyeamehene on behalf of Nana Kwame Baffoe IV, Manhene of the Nkoranza Traditional Area, officially cut the sod for the construction of a new National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) office in the Nkoranza South Municipality, marking a significant milestone in improving healthcare access for residents.

The groundbreaking ceremony was initiated through the collaborative efforts of Hon. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South Constituency and Minister of State in Charge of Special Initiatives, together with Hon.

Godfred Dapaa, Municipal Chief Executive for Nkoranza South Municipality.

The project represents a crucial step toward decentralizing NHIS services and bringing healthcare administration closer to the people of Nkoranza South.

Currently, residents often face challenges accessing NHIS services due to the distance to existing offices, creating barriers to healthcare coverage enrollment and renewal.

Hon. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, who recently retained his parliamentary seat in the December 2024 elections, has been instrumental in securing funding for various infrastructure projects in his constituency.

The MP, who has consistently advocated for improved healthcare infrastructure as part of his development agenda for the area.

The involvement of the traditional authority underscores the importance of collaboration between elected officials and traditional leaders in Ghana’s development process.

Nana Kwame Baffoe IV, who was recently re-sworn as Omanhene following the resolution of a seven-year chieftaincy dispute, has been supportive of development initiatives that benefit his people.

The Akyeamehene’s representation of the Manhene at the ceremony demonstrates the traditional council’s commitment to supporting projects that improve the welfare of their subjects.
