In a crucial step towards ensuring a peaceful and secure electoral process, the National Election Security Taskforce (NESTF) is meeting with leaders of various political parties today at the NESTF Press Centre, National Police Headquarters, Accra.
The meeting, led by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, aims to discuss and finalize security arrangements for the upcoming December 7, 2024, general elections.
The IGP has assured the political leaders of the Taskforce’s commitment to professionalism, fairness and strict adherence to the rule of law.
During the meeting, political party leaders will have the opportunity to voice their security concerns and engage with the Taskforce on measures to prevent any disturbances on Election Day.
The IGP has emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order, urging political stakeholders to prepare for both victory and defeat.
The National Election Security Taskforce comprises various security agencies, including the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, and the Ghana Armed Forces.
These agencies have committed to upholding their professional and impartial mandate to ensure a successful and peaceful election.
