The National Blood Service (NBS) in Ghana has paid a heartfelt tribute to the eight officials who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region on August 6, 2025.
The Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Shirley Owusu-Ofori, Management, and Board of Directors of the National Blood Service led a delegation to lay a wreath in memory of the victims, demonstrating the organization’s respect and solidarity with the bereaved families.

The wreath-laying ceremony was marked by emotional scenes, similar to those witnessed during the ceremony held at the Ceremonial Garden in front of the Jubilee House.

The First Lady, Lordina Mahama, and several Ministers of State, including the Minister of Communications, Samuel Nartey George, were visibly moved during the ceremony.
The Minister broke down in tears and had to be carried away from the garden, while the First Lady clung to the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, as she wailed.
The National Blood Service’s gesture is a testament to the organization’s commitment to honoring the memory of those who have made significant contributions to the nation.
As an institution dedicated to providing safe and adequate blood products to patients in need, the NBS’s act of paying tribute to the victims reflects its values of quality, professionalism, and excellence in customer care.
The nation continues to mourn the loss of the eight officials, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the country, with many paying tribute to the victims’ contributions to Ghana’s development and security.
