Medikal Pays Courtesy Call on Youth Minister Following ‘Red Means Stop’ Ambassadorial Appointment

Ghanaian award-winning rapper Medikal has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, following his appointment as an ambassador for the National Youth Authority’s “Red Means Stop” anti-drug campaign.

The meeting forms part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the creative industry and government institutions in tackling substance abuse among young people in Ghana. Discussions focused on how music, youth culture, and digital engagement can be leveraged to amplify awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promote responsible lifestyle choices among the youth.

The appointment of Medikal as an ambassador for the campaign was earlier announced by the Minister, who highlighted the artiste’s strong influence among young people and the positive role he can play in promoting the message of the initiative.

In earlier remarks referenced in several media reports, the Minister noted that engaging influential public figures like Medikal is a strategic approach to ensure the “Red Means Stop” campaign resonates strongly with young people across the country.

As an ambassador, Medikal is expected to support the campaign through youth engagement activities, public awareness initiatives, and media advocacy aimed at discouraging drug abuse and encouraging young people to make healthier life choices.

The “Red Means Stop” campaign is part of a broader national effort led by the Ministry and the National Youth Authority to address growing concerns around substance abuse and safeguard the well-being of Ghana’s youth
