Madugu Celebrates Irene Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu on International Women’s Day

Award-winning Ghanaian journalist, Ebenezer Madugu, has paid a glowing tribute to renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist Irene Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu as part of celebrations marking International Women’s Day.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show hosted by Ama Gyenfa Ofosu-Darkwa, Madugu described Mrs. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu as an inspirational figure whose contributions to youth development, agriculture, and philanthropy continue to impact lives across the country.

“This is a woman who is giving opportunities to many young Ghanaians in diverse fields,” he said. “Her facility – Olive Health Imaging and Diagnostic Center – around Adentan is one of the best in Ghana, and she must be celebrated for that.”

Madugu further praised her for her leadership in agriculture, noting that she manages several farms across the country while also creating employment opportunities for young people.

“This is a woman who is leading the way in agriculture with many farms across the country. Her influence on the youth is very positive,” he added.

According to the journalist, Mrs. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has also played a significant role in supporting the public image of her husband, veteran politician Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, through her dignified and exemplary conduct.

“Despite her husband serving in top political positions, you will never hear negative things about her, and that is how she has supported the brand of her husband,” Madugu noted. “This is an international woman and we celebrate you today. Keep shining, Sompahemaa.”

Mrs. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu is an accomplished entrepreneur with a strong background in public health. She holds a degree in Mental Health Nursing from Birmingham City University and a Master of Science degree in Public Health from University of Essex.

A passionate advocate for mental health, she has dedicated much of her career to humanitarian work and community service. She currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Kess World Group and is the founding president of the Sompahemaa Foundation.

The Sompahemaa Foundation was established to provide medical assistance to deprived communities across Ghana. Over the years, the organisation has undertaken several medical outreach programmes in communities such as Bremang, Suame, and Berekusu, as well as correctional facilities, including the Kumasi Central and Nsawam prisons.

Beyond her professional and humanitarian work, Mrs. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu is known for her vibrant personality and love for singing and dancing. She is married with three children and is widely admired for her nurturing spirit, often extending motherly care to many adopted children.

For her, the greatest reward lies in bringing joy to others and putting smiles on the faces of people in need.
