Madina MP Secures Bail For 22 Arrested Persons To Promote Peace In KWEIMAN

The member of parliament for Madina in the greater Accra region, honorable Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu has intervened to secure bail for twenty-two constituents of the KWEIMAN Community. Each of these accused persons were granted bail in the sum of Ghc10,000.00 with one surety.

These young people of KWEIMAN were being held on remand after they appeared before Circuit Court 1, Accra on August 1, 2023. They were charged with assault and destruction of properties of the chief and some elders of KWEIMAN.

The court yesterday, August 9, 2023, granted these young people bail after the member of parliament intervened. Now, the case has been referred to Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) under section 73 of the Courts Act.

According to the honorable member, his main reason for intervening in the said matter is to ensure peace prevails in the area.

The Chiefs of KWEIMAN and families of the accused persons appreciated the effort by the lawmaker. Honorable Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu was accompanied by the Assembly man of DANFA Electoral Area, Hon Charles Kotei and former Ward Coordinator and incoming Assembly man of KWEIMAN Hon Amadu Tahiru aka NAT.

According to Hon Sosu, his main reason for intervening in the matter is to ensure that peace prevails in KWEIMAN.
