The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and members of the Police Management Board paid a working visit to the Police Hospital in Accra on June 13, 2025.
The visit aimed to appreciate the hospital administration and staff for their exceptional service during the recent strike by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA).
During the strike, the Police Hospital saw a significant surge in patients, with over a 300% increase in attendance.
The Medical Director, Commissioner of Police Dr. Otu Nyarko, informed the IGP that contingency measures were put in place to manage the situation, including recalling doctors on leave to ensure uninterrupted care.
The IGP commended Dr. Nyarko and his team for their dedication and service, thanking them for their efforts in saving lives and providing medical attention to those in need.
He also noted that the recent commissioning of the Police Hospital in Kumasi was timely, given the current circumstances.
The IGP assured the hospital staff of the Police Administration’s commitment to supporting the hospital and other Police medical facilities to improve service delivery.
He urged the staff to continue working hard to provide quality care to patients, acknowledging their crucial role in the healthcare system.
