Ghana: 2025 SHS Placements Set For September 17, Ministry Of Education Confirms

The Ghana’s Ministry of Education (MoE) has officially confirmed that the 2025 school placement for Senior High School (SHS) students will be released on Tuesday, September 17, 2025.

This announcement brings clarity and relief to thousands of students, parents, and guardians across the country who have been eagerly awaiting the results following the completion of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

In an earlier statement, the Ghana Education Service (GES) had stated October 18, 2025 as the reporting date for all first-year SHS students. The mid-September placement release will therefore give families a full month to prepare arranging supplies, accommodation, and transportation.

The placement process, managed under the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), assigns students to SHS institutions based on their BECE results, school preferences, and available space. The system aims to ensure fairness, transparency, and efficiency in the school selection process.

Over the years, the government has taken steps to improve placement accuracy, reduce congestion at centers, and enhance digital access. Officials expect this year’s release to benefit from these improvements.

“This timeline gives families a critical planning window,” said a GES official. “We are committed to a smooth, transparent, and equitable placement process for all Ghanaian students.”

Placement results will be accessible online via the CSSPS portal and through SMS using a short code to be announced in the coming days.

This release marks another key milestone in Ghana’s ongoing efforts to expand access to free quality secondary education under the Free SHS policy, and to ensure that no child is left behind due to systemic delays or logistical barriers.
