“For The First Time, The Media Will Have Access To Collation Centers” — EC Boss

The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has opened the National Collation Center at its headquarters to the media from the very start of the 2024 general elections. This was announced by EC Chairperson, Madam Jean Mensa, in her address during the official opening of the center.

“This is a historic moment for our country,” Madam Mensa declared. “For the first time, our media partners will have access to our collation centers at all levels—polling stations, constituency centers, regional centers, and now the National Collation Center—right from the beginning of the electoral process.”

Previously, media access to the National Collation Center was limited to the declaration phase. By accrediting over 10,000 media personnel nationwide, the EC aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and responsiveness in election management.

Madam Mensa emphasized that this unprecedented move aligns with the Commission’s core values of integrity, inclusiveness, and transparency.

She noted that the initiative would eliminate doubts and suspicions surrounding electoral processes, ultimately strengthening Ghana’s peace and stability.

“Our media partners and citizens will now receive first-hand, verified information on all aspects of our work. This will foster trust and confidence in the electoral process,” she said.

The EC also announced the availability of a toll-free hotline to address concerns from citizens in real time. Madam Mensa encouraged all Ghanaians to report any issues through the hotline, assuring swift resolution by the Commission’s dedicated team.

Madam Mensa called on the nation to support the Commission’s efforts to ensure a credible and peaceful election, dedicating the process to divine guidance.

“We declare the National Collation Center open in the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit,” she said, expressing confidence in the successful completion of the elections.
