First Ladies of Ghana & Zambia Hold Talks on Social Development & Collaboration

In a significant demonstration of cross-border solidarity and diplomatic goodwill, the First Lady of Ghana, Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama, has met with the First Lady of the Republic of Zambia, Mrs Mutinta Hichilema, to discuss ongoing social initiatives and explore potential areas of collaboration between the two countries.

The high-level engagement provided an important platform for both First Ladies to share experiences and best practices in the implementation of social development programmes aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable communities.

Discussions centered on identifying common priorities and opportunities for partnership, particularly in areas that promote community empowerment, women’s welfare, health, and social inclusion.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between Ghana and Zambia through impactful initiatives that deliver sustainable benefits to their respective populations. The meeting highlighted the increasing role of First Ladies in promoting social development agendas and fostering people-centered diplomacy across the African continent.

Mrs Mahama’s engagement with her Zambian counterpart forms part of her activities during the official three-day State Visit to Zambia, accompanying President John Dramani Mahama, who is in Lusaka at the invitation of the Zambian government. The visit is expected to further deepen bilateral relations between Ghana and Zambia, with a focus on political cooperation, economic ties, and social development.

The interaction between the two First Ladies highlights a shared vision for collaboration, unity, and the advancement of community-focused programs that contribute meaningfully to national and regional development.
