Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, paused her official journey to assist victims of a road accident at Mile 44 on the Koforidua, Adukrom road, earning praise for her swift humanitarian response.
While en route to a scheduled function in Odumase Krobo, the Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, encountered a road accident involving a Toyota Hiace vehicle at Mile 44 on the Koforidua, Adukrom stretch.
The vehicle, registered GT 5160-17, was traveling from Ashaiman to Koforidua when the incident occurred.
The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation, but early reports confirm there were no fatalities. Several occupants sustained minor injuries.
Witnesses said the Minister quickly intervened, offering immediate assistance to the victims and coordinating support until emergency services arrived.
Her actions have drawn commendation from bystanders and local authorities, who described her conduct as “exemplary leadership in action.”
Officials are urging caution on the stretch as investigations continue to determine what led to the crash.
