Renowned gospel musician Empress Gifty Osei Adorye has filed a lawsuit against Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa or Mama Pat, seeking GH₵20 million (Twenty Million Ghana Cedis) in damages for alleged defamatory statements.
The lawsuit, lodged at the High Court of Justice in Tema on May 20, 2025, accuses Evangelist Mama Pat of making slanderous remarks that have caused considerable harm to Empress Gifty’s reputation and emotional well-being.
The gospel star claims that these statements have led to distress and a tarnished public image.
Alongside the financial compensation, Empress Gifty is requesting a perpetual injunction to prevent Mama Pat from further disseminating similar defamatory content.
The writ of summons also demands the removal of all videos and audios containing the alleged defamatory statements from Mama Pat’s social media platforms.
Represented by Sam Kyere, Esq., of Ossei-Aidooh Akpokavie Kyere & Co., Empress Gifty is also seeking to recover legal costs incurred during the proceedings.
The court has mandated that Evangelist Mama Pat appear before the High Court within eight days of being served with the writ.
Should she fail to do so, judgment could be rendered in her absence.
This lawsuit highlights the escalating tensions between the two prominent figures in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
Fans and followers are keenly observing how this legal battle will unfold in the coming weeks as both parties prepare for what promises to be a high-profile court case.
