The current state of the Breman Akroma basic school, a basic school in the central region is extremely disheartening and that, the government as a matter of urgency attend to their needs since in this 21st century, education is a right and not a privilege.
Education as a human right means the right to education is legally guaranteed for all without any discrimination. States have the obligation to protect, respect, and fulfil the right to education. There are ways to hold states accountable for violations or deprivations of the right to education.
Blogger Kobby Kyei and his team few days ago visited the said deplorable school to have a conversation with authorities of the school, some elders in the community to pour out their heart, called on government and non-governmental organizations and individuals to come to their aid.
Enock Baffoh, committee chairman of the community is one of the people who spoke to blogger Kobby Kyei. He stated that, the current state of the school facility makes going to school so unattractive to the school pupils and teaches and therefore called on the government to look beyond the cities and give them their share of the national cake.
“The school building is so deplorable, there are no chairs for the school children, teachers have to travel from other communities to teach which is very bad” Enock Baffoh told the Kobby Kyei News team.
Mr. Akromahene Duodoo, a resident of Breman Akroma near Asikuma also shared his displeasure concerning the school and the lack of basic amenities in the entire community. Aside the poor state of the school, Duodoo also threw more lights on lack of potable water, well equipped health facility etc.
