CBG Supports “Mahama Cares” with GH¢ 300,000 Cash Donation

Consolidated Bank Ghana LTD. (CBG) has reaffirmed its commitment to national development and public health by making a GH¢ 300,000 cash donation to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, widely known as Mahama Cares. The initiative is focused on providing financial and medical support to Ghanaians living with chronic non-communicable diseases, including cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

Presenting the donation on behalf of the Bank, Managing Director Dr. Naomi Wolali Kwetey described the gesture as a significant step toward building a lasting partnership between CBG and the Trust Fund. She emphasized that the Bank is deeply committed to supporting impactful initiatives that improve healthcare access and enhance citizens’ overall well-being.

According to Dr. Kwetey, CBG recognizes the growing burden of non-communicable diseases in Ghana and sees its contribution as part of a broader responsibility to support national health priorities. She added that strategic collaborations such as this are essential in ensuring that vulnerable populations receive the care and financial assistance they need.

Receiving the donation, the Administrator of the Fund, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, expressed heartfelt appreciation to CBG for its generosity. She commended the Bank for demonstrating strong corporate social responsibility and for actively contributing to efforts aimed at improving the health outcomes of Ghanaians.

Dr. Kwetey was accompanied by Deputy Managing Director Sheila Azuntaba and other senior executives of the Bank, underscoring the institution’s unified commitment to the cause.

The donation marks an important milestone in fostering public-private partnerships in Ghana’s healthcare sector, with stakeholders hopeful that continued collaboration will significantly ease the burden of chronic illnesses on individuals and families across the country.
