Ghanaian midfielders Mohammed Kudus and Thomas Partey, along with their Black Stars teammates, are set to receive $5,000 each as winning bonuses for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Chad.
This comes as the Ministry of Youth and Sports trims the overall budget for the fixture, reducing the Ghana Football Association’s proposed $1.24 million to $860,000.
The budget cut affects several key areas, including accommodation, bonuses for technical staff, and incidental expenses. While the charter flight and per diem allowances remain untouched, bonuses for assistant coaches have been halved, and those for team officials have been cancelled entirely. A proposed $5,000 fuel allocation for the team bus was also scrapped.
Despite the reductions, the team remains focused ahead of Thursday’s clash in N’Djamena. Ghana currently tops Group I and is aiming to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Partey, who joined the squad after attending a court hearing in London, is expected to feature alongside Kudus and other key players.
The Sports Ministry’s decision signals a shift toward tighter financial oversight, even as national expectations for the Black Stars remain high.
