Hon. Matthew Nyindam, a member of parliament, has come out strongly in criticism of Hon. Sam George, Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, over his failure to deliver on a promised 30% reduction in DSTV prices.
According to Nyindam, Sam George should have admitted failure instead of making the public feel belittled.
“The best you can do is to say ‘I tried, but I failed.’ That’s leadership.” he said

Nyindam emphasized that true leadership involves humility and respecting criticism. He believes that if Sam George had acknowledged his inability to fulfill the promise, it would have demonstrated a level of accountability and maturity expected of public officials.
Nyindam’s comments were made during an appearance on Bullet TV’s late-night current affairs program hosted by Nana Yaw Fianko.

The issue of DSTV pricing is a real concern for many Ghanaians, with the Minister himself acknowledging that the country pays more for DSTV services compared to other nations, particularly Nigeria.
This disparity highlights the need for effective solutions to address the high costs of digital services.
Nyindam’s criticism of Sam George serves as a reminder that public service requires a high level of accountability and transparency.
As a leader, it is essential to be honest with the public and take responsibility for one’s actions.
By admitting failure and explaining the reasons behind it, Sam George would have shown a level of leadership that prioritizes the concerns of the people.
