In a recent interview on Kumasi-based Lawson FM, former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi expressed his concerns about the current state of Ghana football.
Nyantakyi, who served as the GFA President from 2005 to 2018, did not mince words when criticizing the current administration led by Kurt Okraku.
Nyantakyi likened the state of Ghana football to a pregnancy, stating that “all is not well” with the game.
He emphasized that the current administration is not performing well, citing the frequent changes in coaches as a major concern.
“In five years, the current GFA has appointed five coaches, which is not a good sign of a performing administration,” Nyantakyi said.
He added that despite these changes, the desired results have not been achieved.
Nyantakyi’s comments have sparked a heated debate among Ghanaian football fans, with some agreeing with his assessment and others defending the current administration.
While Nyantakyi acknowledged that he does not have access to detailed information about the current state of Ghana football, his comments are likely to add pressure on the current administration to deliver results.
The Ghana Football Association has faced several challenges in recent years, including corruption scandals, poor performance of the national teams, and infrastructure development.
Nyantakyi’s comments have highlighted the need for urgent reforms to restore Ghana football to its former glory.
As the debate continues, one thing is clear: the current state of Ghana football requires immediate attention, and stakeholders must work together to address the challenges facing the sport.
