All Corruption Charges Against Juaben MCE Nominee Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kantanka Dropped.

The High Court in Kumasi has acquitted and discharged Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kantanka, the nominee for Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, of all 26 counts of corruption related to his nomination. The ruling comes after a protracted legal battle that began in May 2022.

Mr. Sarfo-Kantanka faced allegations stemming from a viral video in which he was reportedly seen demanding the return of money he had paid to assembly members to secure their votes during his confirmation process.

The prosecution argued that these actions constituted an attempt to influence the assembly members’ votes.

However, Justice Priscilla Dikro Ofori, in her judgment, stated that the evidence presented did not sufficiently demonstrate that the money was intended for vote inducement.

The court emphasized the necessity of clear evidence in cases of alleged corruption.

This acquittal has sparked discussions among political analysts and community members regarding electoral integrity and accountability in public office.

While some view the verdict as a validation of due process, others raise concerns about the implications for future elections and governance.
