Five members of a notorious robbery gang operating in the Greater Accra Region have been convicted and jailed following coordinated investigations and covert operations by the Accra Regional Police Command.
The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has announced the successful arrest, prosecution, and conviction of a five-member robbery gang responsible for violent attacks in Dome and ACP Junction. The announcement was made in a press release dated May 26, 2025.
The gang’s first attack occurred on May 11, 2025, around 1:25 a.m., when two armed men, 20-year-old mechanic Isaac Agbezudor, alias “Money Man,” and 19-year-old okada rider Justice Akwasi Sarfo Oppong, alias “Gariba Manta” or “Demon” stormed the Jos Bakery Head Office in Dome.
Riding an unlicensed motorbike and wielding a locally made pistol, they stole a Tecno Pop 8 smartphone, a handbag, and cash amounting to GH¢1,500.
Following intense investigations and a covert operation, Isaac Agbezudor was arrested on May 14 and later confessed, leading police to retrieve key evidence and locate his accomplice.
Gariba Manta was apprehended on May 22 at a mining site between Osino and Saaman. He later led officers to a hideout in Amasaman, where the stolen weapon and live ammunition were found.
The suspects were prosecuted at the Kwabenya Circuit Court, where Agbezudor was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment on two counts to run concurrently. Gariba Manta received a 15-year jail term.
Further investigations connected Gariba Manta to a February 5, 2025, robbery at ACP Junction, where he and three accomplices—Bright Alikor alias “Zaamani,” Emmanuel Nii Odartey Lamptey alias “Chameleon,” and Prince Owusu alias “Check Boy” attacked a female victim, stealing an iPhone 11 Pro Max, a Samsung tablet, and GH¢6,000 in cash. The victim was injured during the knife and scissors attack.
All three accomplices were arrested through covert operations and each sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Police are currently tracking a suspect in Koforidua who allegedly purchased the stolen iPhone 11 Pro Max.
The Accra Regional Police Command praised the dedication of its officers and urged the public to continue providing credible information to support crime-fighting efforts.
Signed by Ms. Juliana Obeng (Supt), Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the release reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring public safety and confidentiality for informants.
