The Upper West Regional Police Command has achieved a significant legal victory with the conviction of Adams Hamidu, a 19-year-old known as Gyida, who has been sentenced to 20 years of hard labor for his involvement in a robbery case. The verdict was handed down by the Wa Circuit Court on June 5, 2025.
In a brazen act committed in February 2025, Gyida and an accomplice, both wearing masks, targeted a victim and stole a blue Honda motorbike valued at GHC 20,000, a Tecno mobile phone worth GHC 1,300, and cash amounting to GHC 10,800. Following extensive intelligence-led operations, law enforcement officials arrested Gyida on June 1, 2025, in Domowa within the Wa-West District.
This conviction reflects the Upper West Regional Police Command’s unwavering dedication to upholding the law and ensuring community safety.
In light of this case, the Regional Command reaffirmed its commitment to fighting crime and maintaining the security of all residents in the area.
